Cigna Corp. to develop and offer medical insurance coverage internationally
Cigna Corp. said Wednesday it will develop and offer individual private medical insurance in nations outside the U.S.
The company’s Cigna International unit will also provide private medical insurance to individual expatriates and high net worth individuals, Cigna said.
The insurer named Keith Biddlestone to lead the program. Biddlestone has worked at Bupa International for more than 25 years, in various positions in Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions. Most recently, Biddlestone served as managing director of Bupa’s global health care business based in the U.K.
Shares of Cigna rose 79 cents, or 2.1 percent, to $38.71 in morning trading. The stock earlier reached a 52-week high of $39.26. It has ranged from $12.68 to $38.88 over the past year.
