The Alamo Bowl; Mike Leach firing and Michigan States Suspension; Which team will respond?

–(– 01/02/2010 – Most Popular industry news provided by Financial News USA. Texas Tech has reached a bowl game 16 straight seasons, the longest such streak in the Big 12 and tied for ninth nationally. The Red Raiders have played in the Alamo Bowl just twice during that span, losing both times to Iowa.

Reason to watch: How could you not? Following a week of upheaval that resulted in the ouster of 10-year coach Mike Leach, the Red Raiders will play under interim coach/defensive coordinator Ruffin McNeill. How will Tech’s players respond? Are they capable of running their patented Air Raid offense without its architect? Michigan State, meanwhile, is dealing with its own issues: The Spartans will be without 14 players (12 suspended, two dismissed) stemming from a campus brawl.

Keep an eye on: Michigan State’s receivers. No position was hit harder by the suspension, leaving the Spartans with standout Blair White (64 catches, 876 yards) … and that’s about it. Look for sophomore Keshawn Martin (1,213 all-purpose yards), who has just 14 catches, and, quite possibly, backup quarterback Keith Nichol. About Financial News USA
