Patrick Dempsey Bought New Venice Home Before Divorce News
“Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey’s 15-year marriage to Jillian Fink may be on the rocks, but their real estate portfolio seems healthy. Before news broke last week that the couple would divorce, they had snagged a California micro-compound about a mile from the Pacific Ocean in the Venice Beach neighborhood of Los Angeles, Variety reports.
Dempsey — known on the TV show as Dr. McDreamy — and Jillian, a Hollywood makeup artist who has used both the Fink and Dempsey names, bought the property for $ 1.9 million. One hopes that was during happier times, but it could have been a sign they were planning separate households. The tiny 3,900 square-foot lot hosts the original 1950s bungalow, which was renovated in the mid-2000s into a one-bedroom, one-bath guest quarters with kitchen. There’s also a second residence, a three-story house featuring walls of glass and corrugated metal siding. The two structures are linked by a redwood bridge that also serves as a two-car carport.
The couple couldn’t seem to get enough of the Pacific. They primarily have lived with their three children in Malibu on five acres above Zuma Beach. Their Frank Gehry house, known as the “Tin House” and built in the 1960s for acclaimed artist Ron Davis, recently graced the pages of Architectural Digest. The Dempseys reportedly bought it in 2009 for $ 7 million.
Our question now: Who will get which house?
