Robert De Niro Buys NYC Loft for Darling Daughter Drena
Good dada Robert De Niro has bought a new apartment for his daughter, Drena De Niro, in Manhattan’s West Village. The actor who made “you talkin’ to me?” a catchphrase in the movie “Taxi Driver” reportedly plunked down $ 2.85 million for a Morton Street penthouse for Drena, whom De Niro adopted in the 1970s when he was married to Drena’s mother, actress Diahnne Abbott.
Drena’s new loft is near the actor’s old home on St. Luke’s Place. The apartment features drop-dead views of the Hudson River and Manhattan’s cityscape, a wood-burning fireplace, two bedrooms and 2.5 baths.
Drena is a producer and actress who has appeared in such films as “Grace of My Heart” and “Wag the Dog.” She was in the news in 2011 when she reportedly slugged an ex-boyfriend who was walking his dog in Greenwich Village. No charges were filed.
De Niro and now-wife Grace Hightower reportedly have been renting an Upper West Side apartment while his $ 20.9 million Central Park West triplex is being renovated after a 2012 fire. The Oscar-winning actor also owns a 98-acre property in the upstate New York town of Gardiner, where he has been arguing with local officials about property tax assessment matters. But all’s well: After three years, the matter has been settled, and De Niro has accepted the $ 6 million assessment on the property.
