Fedor Emelianenko’s next bout reportedly delayed to May
Top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko’s main promoter says he won’t be fighting in April, after all.
Strikeforce and CBS have said for months that they expect Emelianenko to fight in April on a CBS show. Now officials for M-1 Global, Emelianenko’s main promoter and a partner of Strikeforce, say his next fight has been pushed back to May, according to a Russian news site, TV 100.
Emelianenko is still expected to face Brazilian heavyweight Fabricio Werdum, M-1 officials said.
Emelianenko and Werdum are No. 1 and No. 10 in the USA TODAY/SB Nation consensus rankings. Neither man has competed since Strikeforce’s November show, which was the promotion’s debut on CBS.
