 Prepare to brood this fall.

At the 2014 Summer TCA Press Tour on Monday, FX CEO John Landgraf teased the upcoming “brooding” season of American Horror Story: Freak Show, which centers on Jessica Lange running one of America’s last remaining freak shows and will star Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett and franchise newcomer Michael Chiklis

Plus, Landgraf offered an update on a recovering Tracy Morgan‘s FXX comedy and announced the renewal of a fan favorite comedy…

NEWS: Fargo has been renewed for a second season! But will the cast return?

American Horror Story: Freak ShowWhile Landgraf wasn’t able to offer up much about the new season (which will premiere in October), or the characters we’ll be meeting, he did say it’s a mix between Asylum and Coven: “It’s not quite as brooding and formal as Asylum. It’s going a little bit more humor and camp, but it has a brooding, period feel to it also.”

And he described the characters as “really distinctive and really original, some of them are really strange, but compelling,” and said the ’50s-set Freak Show will “have a really different look” than the three previous installments.

The Tracy Morgan Project: Originally set to debut in January, Tracy Morgan‘s series was obviously delayed due to the actor’s tragic accident. However, the network remains “excited” about the project. “We’re extremely encouraged by his progress,” Landgraf said. “Whenever Tracy decides he’s ready to come back, we’ll be ready to get going.”

Louie: Louis C.K.‘s critically-acclaimed comedy was renewed for a fifth season, which will only be seven episodes (half of the order for season four) and will debut in Spring 2015.

“Louie‘s fourth season was once again groundbreaking. Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreakingalways thought provoking,” Landgraf said. “The show went to narrative and cinematic places no comedy has gone before and we look forward to seeing what Louis comes up with next.”
