Conan, NBC close to $40million deal

NBC and Conan O’Brien are extremely close to signing a $40 million deal in which would see Conan leave “The Tonight Show” and NBC after a 16 year realtionship with the broadcaster. Details of the deal would bar O’Brien from “bad-mouthing” his former bosses at NBC but would allow him to take another television job within one year. O’brien has seen a ratings soar as news broke out the NBC would drop move the Jay Leno Variety show from it’s orginal 10 pm slot and bump it to 11:35. Last night Conan, made reference to the gag order, and opted to sing about NBC’s bosses instead of actually “bad mouth”

The new deal would see Jay Leno once again take the helms as host of “The Tonight Show.” The Jay Leno Variety show is expected to go off the air Feb. 12, when the 2010 Winter Olympics begin.
