Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla Europe road trip video, Storm Wave EV motorcycle

Tesla is showcasing its expanded charging infrastructure with a European road trip video. As Tesla drivers gain more and more freedom to travel throughout Europe as the electric automaker adds more Superchargers and Destination chargers, this new video helps to imagine the possibilities of what a low-cost, emissions-free vacation could look like. Storm Eindhoven will begin its world tour with two electric motorcycles on August 14, 2016. Earlier, we saw the team’s Pulse motorcycle. Since then, Storm has introduced its successor, the Wave, as it prepares to travel around the world in 80 days showcasing the two-wheeled EVs and promoting electric mobility. Featuring a modular, swappable battery pack, the Storm Wave produces 100 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. It does 0-62 mph in five seconds, with a top speed of 100 mph. The State of California is giving BYD $ 9 million for 27 electric trucks. 23 Class 8 yard trucks, aka “yard goats,” will be used to move shipping containers around freight yards, ports, warehouses, and distribution centers. Four Class 5 medium-duty trucks will go to work at BNSF Railways’ rail yards and Daylight Transport’s freight transfer facility. The order of the trucks – which BYD will build in Lancaster, California – is part of a larger state program to invest in low-carbon transportation projects to help improve air quality and reduce climate change.
