When it comes to on-screen vehicular mayhem, few films can come close to the automotive madness that is the “Mad Max” series. The Australian-born films involve a post-apocalyptic landscape, with bandits running wild in heavily modified vehicles ripped straight out of nightmares.
While all of the vehicles used in the “Mad Max” series are special, there are others that have become iconic in their own right. Cars like the 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe “Pursit Interceptor”, a wicked black Aussie-bred coupe with a huge blower sticking out of the hood which the film’s namesake drove in the original “Mad Max” film.
In 2015, Mad Max makes a return, with the new “Mad Max: Fury Road” installment. Chris Herbert, a young automotive artist from Ontario, created a gorgeous infographic highlighting the top 20 cars from the entire franchise, including a few from the new movie. The infographic, which was commissioned by Fandango, gives a glimpse into a number of vehicles from “Fury Road”, including the insane Gigahorse. The Gigahorse is the chariot of choice of the new film’s main villain, which features two 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Villes stacked on top of each other.
