SOFIA, Bulgaria — Authorities in Bulgaria say a Swedish airliner carrying 150 passengers has made an emergency landing after smoke was seen coming out of the left wing of the jet.Airport officials in the Black Sea town of Varna said a Boeing 737 of Scandinavian company Primera Air made an emergency landing at Varna Airport on Friday.
Authorities say all passengers are safe and have been taken to the airport, while the plane is being inspected.The airport's press office says the plane was en route from Stockholm to Larnaca in Cyprus when the pilot decided to land in Varna, after being alerted that smoke was coming out of the left wing.Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Chattanooga is holding a celebration of the outdoors and healthy lifestyles.RiverRocks festival activities in the Chattanooga area continue through Oct. 10 and some proceeds will benefit land trusts and conservation groups.A promotion statement says the more than 90 events include rock climbing, trail running, kayaking, rowing, cycling, off-road biking, hiking and hang gliding for both expert and novice competitors.Organizers plan to redistribute 50 cents of every dollar collected by RiverRocks to nonprofit trusts and conservancies in the Tennessee Valley.Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. BOISE, Idaho — A group of homeowners at the defunct Tamarack Resort in central Idaho says it's working to open the ski slopes this winter.The group is selling season passes, plans to hire 65 workers, and hopes to get five lifts running on Dec. 20 and continue through April 3, operating Thursdays through Sundays.Tim Flaherty, Tamarack Municipal Association general manager, said the group hopes to hire many former Tamarack workers."Word is getting out among the mountain pros that winter sports are returning to this resort, and we're grateful to be able to secure the services of these experts," Flaherty told the Idaho Statesman.Homeowners have contributed $250,000 to reopen the lifts, said Tamarack homeowner Doug Dvorak.
