A Southwest pilot's offensive rant against his flight attendants was caught on open mic and the pilot has been suspended. NBC's Tom Costello reports.Southwest Airlines confirmed that its employees received a written apology Tuesday from the pilot whose cockpit rant sparked anger around the globe, Local 2 Investigates reported."Because of the impact of my comments, I wanted to communicate with you directly," wrote Capt. James Taylor, of Argyle, Texas.Local 2 Investigates fought for the release of his cockpit comments that tied up an air traffic control frequency used by the FAA's Houston Center. The tape was then played on news outlets worldwide.With his microphone accidentally turned on, Taylor is heard on the tape criticizing "gays, grannies and grandes" who he said made dating flight attendants unappealing.The tape included swearing and anti-gay slurs. He also is heard making fun of flight attendants who he described as overweight or older. Moving away does no good, as tradwinds circulate the smoke everywhere.
