Ford Otomotiv Sanayi AS, the Turkish unit of Ford Motor Co., will invest 950 million liras ($674 million) on production of a new Transit model. The investment will be made in Ford(TM)s factory in Kocaeli in northwest Turkey, Ford of Europe Chief Executive Officer Stephen Odell said in a statement today. Turkey, whose economy grew more than 10 percent annually in the first two quarters, is a production hub for international manufacturers including Ford, Fiat SpA and Toyota Motor Corp. Ford Otosan(TM)s second-quarter net income surged 47 percent, helped by rising sales in Turkey. In August, the company increased its sales forecast for the country this year by 5.7 percent to 279,000 units.
